If your music is already in Files, iCloud Drive, an external drive, or on your computer, you can add it to Otoha. Share a single file into the app, or import a folder for an album or larger collection. After that, open the playlist in Otoha instead of finding the same file in a folder every time.

Files can open a song, but it does not maintain a music library for you.
Import one file or a whole folder.
For one track, use the share sheet in Files. For a larger set, organize the files into an album, course, or collection folder and use Import Folder. The folder becomes a playlist, while the original filenames and directory remain easy to check.
After a folder is imported, you can continue from the playlist.
Playlists, artwork, lyrics, and playback position stay with the player.
Otoha remembers playlists and playback position and provides lock-screen controls. LRC, SRT, embedded lyrics, and available online lyrics can be shown in sync during playback. You can also add lyrics later to files that do not have them yet.

Apple Music and Spotify offline downloads cannot be imported into Otoha.
Subscription downloads are app caches, not ordinary music files.
Services such as Apple Music and Spotify store offline content in their own protected cache, and that content is played by the original app. Otoha works with ordinary files that you can access. You can keep using streaming for discovery and subscriptions while keeping purchased or otherwise authorized files in your local library.

Common sources for music files
Any ordinary audio file that you have the right to use can be added to a local library. The sources below commonly provide downloads, although formats and usage rights vary by store, artist, and release.
Download stores
Bandcamp, Qobuz, 7digital, iTunes Store, mora, OTOTOY, and similar stores sell downloadable music in formats such as MP3, AAC, FLAC, or ALAC.
Artist and independent releases
Artist sites, Bandcamp, live sales, and direct creator distribution often provide ordinary audio downloads.
Your own CDs
You can rip CDs you own on a computer to formats such as ALAC, AAC, or FLAC and place the files in Files or iCloud Drive. Follow the law that applies where you live.
Openly licensed music
Free Music Archive, Jamendo, Internet Archive, and similar sites offer downloadable material. Check the license attached to each work before using it.
Streaming offline downloads
Offline downloads inside Apple Music, Spotify, and similar subscriptions are normally protected app caches and cannot be imported as ordinary files.
Keep a separate backup of purchased or self-produced music files. Stores and services change over time, so one copy in one place is still a single point of failure.

Does importing from Files make a second copy?+
For Files and iCloud Drive, Otoha primarily uses authorized access to the original file instead of duplicating an entire collection. Removing an Otoha playlist does not delete those external source files.
Can I import songs downloaded in Apple Music or Spotify?+
Not the subscription offline downloads. They are normally protected caches that only work in the original service. Use ordinary audio files that you purchased, created, ripped where lawful, or otherwise have the right to use.
How is this different from opening a file in Files?+
Otoha maintains playlists and playback position and adds lock-screen controls, synced lyrics, speed control, and looping. Files continues to store and manage the original file.
Does Otoha support FLAC and other lossless formats?+
It supports common lossless formats including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, AIFF/AIF, and CAF. Actual decoding support also depends on the Apple system media stack.
Do I need an Otoha account?+
No Otoha account is required to play and manage local files. Optional Cloud AI features are used under their applicable purchase and network conditions.
The next album can go straight into Otoha as a folder.
