Who we are

Otoha is provided by ChainBow Co., Ltd. This policy explains how the Otoha iOS and macOS apps and the otoha.co website handle information.

Data that stays on your device by default

Otoha is not a music streaming service. Audio files you import or authorize, playlists, song titles, artists, albums, artwork, lyrics, subtitles, transcriptions, playback preferences, learning records, and local DJ memory are processed and stored on your device by default.

If you enable iCloud, system backup, or platform sync, Apple system services may sync or back up that data. Otoha does not upload your audio files to our servers for playback or import.

Data used when you choose online features

• Cloud AI: When you use Cloud AI, AI DJ, or AI show features, Otoha may send your question, DJ instructions, song metadata, candidate summaries, lyrics or subtitle excerpts, transcription text, and necessary context to the configured AI service to generate answers, queue suggestions, or show directions.
• Subscription verification: Cloud AI subscriptions require App Store and StoreKit transaction verification. Our Cloud AI service may store product IDs, transaction IDs, original transaction IDs, environment, signed transaction data, entitlement state, expiration time, quota, and creation/update timestamps.
• Direct macOS edition: the one-time purchase is processed by Stripe Checkout. Stripe provides the checkout email so Cloudflare Email Service can automatically deliver the license code; we retain an encrypted code copy, a code hash, the checkout session, an activated-device hash, and activation time. After the direct Cloud AI free period ends, the user can continue with only their own API key stored on the device.
• Lyrics and subtitle search: When you search online, the query, song title, artist, album, or provider-required lookup data may be sent to the selected provider.
• RSS podcasts: When you add an RSS feed, Otoha connects to that feed and the media hosts referenced by it.
• Weather and calendar: DJ data sources on macOS are off by default. If you turn them on, Otoha may request one-time location for WeatherKit weather context or read calendar busy time blocks for DJ context. Calendar event titles, attendees, and notes are not read for DJ.

System permissions

• Media Library: used to browse and play songs, albums, and playlists on your device.
• Speech Recognition: used to transcribe imported or selected audio into synced subtitles or learning text.
• Microphone: used when you choose voice input; it is not used for continuous listening.
• Location: used only when you enable weather context, for a one-time current weather lookup, not background tracking.
• Calendar: used only when you enable calendar context, to read busy blocks for more relevant DJ prompts.

Third-party services

Otoha may use Apple App Store, StoreKit, Speech, Translation, WeatherKit, Calendar, and iCloud or system backup capabilities; Cloudflare Worker/KV for Cloud AI entitlement configuration; Stripe and Cloudflare Email Service to process the direct-edition checkout email and deliver a license code; configured AI services for Cloud AI; online lyrics services and RSS hosts for content you request.

The otoha.co website uses Google Analytics to measure how it is used: which pages are opened, roughly which region they are opened from, on what kind of device, and whether a visit came from a search or a link. It sets cookies in the browser to tell one visit from another and derives an approximate location from the IP address. The website has no accounts, so none of it is tied to a name or an email address. Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and the site works the same with it installed.

Those third parties process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data, and the app does not use third-party advertising SDKs for cross-app tracking.

Retention, deletion, and control

You can delete imported content, lyrics, subtitles, transcriptions, playlists, and learning records in the app, or revoke Media Library, Speech Recognition, Microphone, Location, and Calendar permissions in system settings.

Cloud AI subscriptions can be managed or cancelled through the App Store. Direct-edition license and activation records are retained as needed to provide the lifetime license, support requests, and meet compliance needs. Server records related to subscription entitlements are retained as needed to provide the service, troubleshoot issues, and meet compliance needs.

Families and children

Otoha can be used for family listening and learning. Parents or guardians should supervise online feature use and avoid submitting children's sensitive personal information to Cloud AI, online lyrics search, or other third-party services.

Security

We use system permissions, platform security features, and limited server-side configuration to reduce unnecessary data exposure. No network service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, so avoid submitting sensitive information in AI prompts or online searches.

Changes and contact

If we update this policy, we will change the last updated date on this page. Material changes will be communicated in a reasonable way through the app or website.
